Turkey Yacht Charter

Turkey is an extraordinary part of the world. An area that we have personally enjoyed spending time in during our High Point Yacht Fest sailing regattas, many times. It is well worth exploring, both the coast and inland. Start or end with a few days in Istanbul. Enjoy the sights of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

The cruising grounds of Turkey’s southern coastline, known as The Turquoise Coast are a justifiably popular luxury yacht charter destination. It’s dramatic and diverse, with beautiful bays, rustic villages and picturesque settings mixed with luxury and trendy boutique hotels that are scattered along the coast.

There is a selection of locations to embark and/or disembark for a yacht charter in Turkey and all offer glorious routes to explore. Turkey is incredibly rich in history, culture and beautiful nature and you will enjoy whichever route you pick. The most popular starting/ending ports for yacht charters are Bodrum, Marmaris and Gocek. Yacht charters can be offered for a circular route or a one-way route between those towns. Bodrum and Gocek are very near international airports, while Marmaris is just over an hour drive from each of the airports. Those towns are all full of charm and history from different eras.

The history of Bodrum is fascinating and it dates back to 12^th century B.C. The city was originally ‘Halicarnassus’, the birthplace to Herodotus, the ‘Father of History’ who lived in the 5^th century B.C. The ‘Mausoleum’ of King Mausolus (350 B.C.), one of the Seven Wonders of the World, was in this city too. But the only structure that has survived from the Classical Era is the Amphitheatre. It is one of the oldest theatres in Anatolia with a capacity for 13,000 guests and is still hosting many shows and concerts for the art lovers of Bodrum.

The ‘Castle of Saint Peter’ is the city’s main landmark. It dates back to the Middle Ages and is very well preserved. ‘The Myndos Gate’ through which Alexander the Great entered Halicarnassus is another place that should not be missed.

Göcek is located on one of the country’s most beautiful stretches of coastline and is an ideal point of embarkation/ disembarkation. But we highly recommend spending a day in this town too. It is part of the most beautiful natural setting and it is bustling with little shops and cafes, the Turkish baths, and a number of marinas. Whether you want to eat a simple but delicious kebab at the Kebab Hospital or have the most glamorous dinner at the Q Lounge, the strong positive energy of the place is present everywhere.

But the Gocek bays are what we tend to talk about the most. There are several in the area and all are incredibly beautiful and very popular due to the natural protection it offers to yacht charters. This is a charming area and the simplicity of the place is what makes it special.
