I was lucky enough to get invited on a familiarisation-trip (fam-trip) on board charter yacht Corsario in Croatia for 4 nights. As a yacht broker, a fam-trip is one of the highlights of the year. These trips give us a real insight into what our guests experience when on board a yacht charter. It allows us meet the captain, crew and get to know the boat inside out.
Corsario is a luxury, family friendly yacht that combines the elegance of a traditional yacht with modern luxury. Corsario’s 48 meter length offers space for everybody. It doesn’t matter if you want a quiet place in the saloon to send an email, sit on the foredeck with a good book, have a dip in the jacuzzi (before or after you have been in the sauna), take your yoga mat and do some stretches or just sit on the decks sunbathing, with her three decks and plenty of seating areas, everyone will find space to themselves.
The cabins too are a great size. I stayed in one of the double cabins and I really enjoyed the homely feeling of that space. The showers are beautiful! Corsario offers accommodation for up to 12 guests- one Master cabin, one VIP cabin, two double cabins and two twin cabins. There is also another ensuite double cabin on the top deck that is perfect for those clients that want a masseuse or a full-time nanny onboard without having to sacrifice one of the guest cabins.
As impressive as Corsario is as a boat, my main take-away from my time on board was how amazing the crew were. Corsario has one of the best crew I have ever met! Captain Jure is larger than life and doesn’t just know Croatian waters like the back of his hand but he also brings you cocktails whilst you are resting on a beach in a bay! You never see him without a smile and he loves sharing this with his guests.
Chef Luka is an exceptional cook. I never missed a single meal! His food was not just delicious, but also presented beautifully. He is also lucky to have Maja his sous chef onboard to help him to prepare everything. Dario our waiter knew my morning coffee on day two and taught us how to make delicious cocktails in the evening. The rest of the crew: Hrvoje, Sasha, Antonija, Martina and Marko were always around when needed but so discreet. It did not matter if I wanted to take the Jet ski out or switch to a SUP, somebody was always ready to help and waiting for us with the beach towels and a bottle of water when we got back from swimming.
I have been in Croatia many times before but discovering the islands by yacht is something else! We have sailed to Hvar on our first day after stopping in a lovely bay for a swim and lunch. Corsario has a great selection of water toys and we wanted to try all of them. Hvar is the night life paradise of the Dalmatian islands, but it is also known for its rich history and offers many historical attractions, mostly from the 16th and 17th century. We climbed up to the Spanish Fort and enjoyed the amazing view of the town and the Pakleni islands.
Day 2 took us to Korcula, again after a stop in a bay for swimming and a delicious lunch onboard. We decided on a walking tour to learn about the rich history of the town. Korcula is also famous for its wine, in fact, some of the best Croatian wine comes from this island. We got some to taste on board with our dinners. A decision we did not regret!
The next day took us to one of my favourite places, Vis. I especially loved the town of Komiza. Charming and beautiful, I could just walk around those beautiful narrow streets, admiring the architecture all day or just sit in a cafe and watch the world go by. There is a serenity about this place, even at busiest of times.
The following day, we had an early start in the morning to catch the right time for the Blue Cave (just before midday) before we headed to Solta for our final night on board. I really enjoyed the anchorages. One gets to sleep in total peace with no sounds to hear but the sea.
I truly had the best mini break on board Corsario and cannot recommend Corsario and her crew highly enough!
