Captain: IVAN RAKULJIĆ, Croatian,
Languages: English
Talking about professional choices – here is a man who claims he didn’t have one. Since he can remember he pictured himself only as a captain. His family had traditional mini cruiser ship, but Ivan feels his seaman’s career is not simple consequence of family legacy, he was just lucky enough to be born in perfect environment for the job that was meant for him. After Maritime high school diploma, he already had enough experience gathered during summer breaks as a sailor, but he continued to work next 3 years on that position. As he says, he was interested to learn all tricks of the trade as a sailor before moving to the position of the captain.
For past 7 years Ivan worked as a captain on mini cruisers. His knowledge, professional attitude, calmness and team guiding skills provided him excellent job offers. Praised by the guests, appreciated by his crew and the owners of the ships he worked on, Ivan was first choice of the owner of M/Y Corsario for captain’s position. As working on the luxury yacht was Ivan’s unspoken wish and knowing the owners of Corsario; quality of their ships and their concept of providing bespoken service, decision was easy. Able to pass his working enthusiasm to the rest of the crew, Ivan promises a wonderful experience at sea for all guests. Be sure to visit the Bridge to share some of Ivan’s knowledge and passion for life at sea. Ivan’s hobbies are sports (football and rugby have special place), music, books, movies and old historical towns are his favorite travel destinations. Still there is no hobby that beats learning things from his 4-years old son.
Chef: MLADEN MUSTRA, Croatian,
Languages: English, German
Working experience in profession: 15 years, from the day I got my Professional Chef diploma at the High School.
Working experience outside of profession: I never worked outside of profession. I don’t see myself ever doing that. It’s that simple for Mladen. After 12 years working in restaurants, Mladen had to liberate his creativity as he says and started working on yachts. Reason? I want to thrill each guests with my work, I know I am capable to do that and I can’t accept anything less anymore. Giving my best in the restaurant mostly was not enough, there were too many things involved which didn’t depend on me. Yacht is different. Whole crew is dedicated to keep clients happy day after day. I have opportunity to get both instructions and impressions directly from the guests. It gives me much more joy, and joy while cooking is essential.
For any case, let us say that Mladen is passionate about his job. Communicative, organized, curious and easygoing, Mladen constantly improves his knowledge thru specialized culinary seminars and workshops. He has gathered international experience because “there are no borders for food, if food travels, so should chefs.” Mladen describes his favourite style as Mediterranean fine dining with a twist – local, fresh, seasonal ingredients as a base with appropriate contemporary touch.
As Mladen insisted – we need to emphasise that his personal favorite style is irrelevant; in the first place he is on board Corsario to follow preferences of the guests.
He’s main hobby is studying eno-gastronomy; he also enjoys reading professional literature while his general interests include music, travel, and sports.
